I love a sunset session. They’re some of the most fun to shoot because I get to be really creative with the lighting and the posing. Sunsets also look so good in basically any location. Whether we’re hanging on the beach or heading up on a hike – I always always always walk away from a sunset session feeling like DAMN that was sooo good!
Sunset Photos will Never Disappoint
Golden hour light is so so so dreamy… and its never let me down. It is probably the most you-can-count-on-me lighting of the day. Obviously, I mean, doesn’t pretty much everyone love golden light!? But why are we drawn to it to so much? It’s soft and glowy. It makes skin tones even, the solar flares look cinematic and there’s something unexplainable about the raw beauty of it all.
The Dramatic Effect
Probably the most important thing to mention about these photos is the sky. It can be hit or miss.. but man when it hits, it hits HARD. Especially with cool cloud formations and great colors – that adds a lot of depth to your portraits.
Give Me Adventure
I recommend sunset photos if you’re up for a fun for adventury-session. I find that there’s something about the energy of golden hour nights that really highlight the adventurous spirit in people. They get excited to explore and go somewhere cool to take photos (luckily for my clients, my location guide will highlight THE BEST places for sunset photos!)
Sunsets give a unique (and limited!) window of time for the best photos, which I find inspiring. When there’s so much beauty, I can think creatively and experiment with my clients (so let me know if you’re up for that!) The changing light and colors during sunset sets the best mood. When there’s something else to focus on then there’s more opportunity for candid moments and less pressure to pose. If you’re feeling nervous about being in front of the camera (first of all – I’ve gotchu!) but I would definitely recommend a sunset shoot.
