There’s nothing like being behind the lens for a shoot like this. Sessions like these are why I LOVE getting to do what I do. This gallery turned out so gorgeous, I mean, it looks like something straight out of a fairy tale… but it sure didn’t feel like it. The Papp family were troopers for this entire session, they were perfect! But, while a picture paints a thousand words, it doesn’t always tell the full story. Something you probably couldn’t tell from these photos is that this day was SO FREAKING COLD. The entire Papp family were troopers, and they made this session pure magic.
Maternity Glow
The focus of this shoot was maternity. No matter how many children you have, celebrating a new baby and becoming a mom to a new person is so delicate. I am in awe of these emotional moments and truly honored that this sweet family trusted me with their memories. The Papp’s have two daughters already and welcoming a baby brother into the family for the first time was so special. They’re family is changing and the realization set in that this session was about more than photographs; it was about celebrating life, love, and the future. Momma was absolutely glowing in these photos, and she really stole the moment away from the cold and made it her own. Her main character energy was so much more obvious than any chaos from the session.
A Little Chaos Never Hurt Nobody
I always encourage families to really be their true selves, to let their guard down and enjoy the moment. And even in the freezing cold, we captured the essence of their family which is a lot of love, giggles and resilience. It was so sweet to see their genuine love and excitement for their newest member. It also goes to prove that the day of your session is truly about the memories. It’s not the weather, not the fight you might be having in the car (let’s be honest…) on the way to your session or the chaos. But whatever happens, I’m here for it and we’ll roll with it!
Prioritize The Moment
The Papp family, soon to be five, showed me once again why I thrive in capturing these fleeting moments. You want to trust your photographer to show up in the moment, regardless of what it brings. Someone who despite the cold, prioritizes and gets excited about the celebration of new beginnings and family changes. These moments in life are so fun, so grounding, and yet they don’t come around very often. It was an honor to capture this chapter for them, a reminder of the warmth and love that will welcome their new son into the world.
